THE ULTIMATE MEASURE OF A MAN IS NOT WHERE HE STANDS IN MOMENTS OF COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE, BUT WHERE HE STANDS AT TIMES OF CHALLENGE AND CONTROVERSY.

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
Proverbs 24:10

WHEN WE LOVE SOMETHING IT IS OF VALUE TO US, AND WHEN SOMETHING IS OF VALUE TO US WE SPEND TIME WITH IT, TIME ENJOYING IT AND TAKING CARE OF IT.

And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you...
2 Corinthians 12:15

NOTHING I'VE EVER DONE HAS GIVEN ME MORE JOYS AND REWARDS THAN BEING A DAD TO MY CHILDREN.

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Psalm 127:3

WE TOO OFTEN LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE, WHEN WE SHOULD BE USING THINGS AND LOVING PEOPLE.

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
Romans 12:10

THE KIND OF MAN THAT THINKS THAT HELPING WITH THE DISHES IS BENEATH HIM, WILL ALSO THINK THAT HELPING WITH THE BABY IS BENEATH HIM, AND THEN HE CERTAINLY IS NOT GOING TO BE A VERY SUCCESSFUL DAD.

...but whoever wishes to become great among you, shall be your servant.
Matthew 20:26

THE BEST THINGS YOU CAN GIVE CHILDREN, NEXT TO GOOD HABITS, ARE GOOD MEMORIES.

The memory of the righteous is blessed...
Proverbs 10:7

HONOR IS BETTER -
THAN HONORS.

...for them that honour me I will honour...
1 Samuel 2:30

IT MAY BE HARD ON SOME FATHERS NOT TO HAVE A SON, BUT IT IS MUCH HARDER ON A BOY NOT TO HAVE A FATHER.

Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.
Proverbs 3:27

A FATHER SHOULD NEVER MAKE DISTINCTIONS BETWEEN HIS CHILDREN.

For there is no respect of persons with God.
Romans 2:11

HAPPY IS THE CHILD WHO HAPPENS IN UPON HIS PARENT FROM TIME TO TIME, TO SEE HIM ON HIS KNEES,...OR GOING ASIDE REGULARLY, TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH THE LORD GOD.

...let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord, seek the Lord, and His strength: seek His face evermore.
Psalm 105:3,4

TOO MUCH LOVE NEVER SPOILS CHILDREN. CHILDREN BECOME SPOILED WHEN WE SUBSTITUTE "PRESENTS" FOR "PRESENCE"

We loved you dearly - so dearly that we gave you not only God's message, but our own lives too.
1 Thessalonians 2:8

LIVE TRUTH INSTEAD OF PROFESSING IT.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
James 1:22

DADS

The greatest thing a Dad can do for his children, is to Love their Mother.

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife, loveth himself.
Ephesians 5:28

If you want your child to accept your values when he reaches his teen years, then you must be worthy of his respect during his younger days.

....a model for you, that you might follow our example.

2 Thessalonians 3:9

A child is not likely to find a Father in God, unless he finds something of God in his father.

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

1 Corinthians 11:1

A Dad's words are like a thermostat that sets the temperature in the house.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue:
and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 18:21

While I don't minimize the vital role played by a Mother, I believe a successful family begins with her husband.

He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity.

1 Timothy 3:4

TRUE FRIEND

A true friend is:
Someone that knows you, and loves you anyway.
Calls you when you are sick, and fixes supper for you.
Sees you are down, and picks you up.
Ask you to go fishing, then supplies the boat.
Knows your faults, but looks the other way.
Sees you cry, and cries with you, then makes you laugh.
Someone that never has to say I'm sorry.
Understands, when nothing is understandable.
Says yes, but really means no.
Needs to go, but stays.
Is always there.
Jesus is a true friend.

How to curb Juvenile Delinquency:
1. Take time with your children.
2. Set your children a good example.

...but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
1 Timothy 4:12

Memorial Day
Just as the Son of Man
did not come
to be served,
but to serve,
and to give His life -
a ransom for many.
Matthew 20:28
American men and women have died, and will continue to die, for your right to the freedom you enjoy.
I might not agree with what you say, but I will defend until death, your right to say it.

Thanksgiving, is the day to give thanks for the things we have - Memorial Day, is the day to say thanks to those that served, in order that we might have, do and say those things.

Complex problems have simple, easy to understand, wrong answers...
My pastor is my shepherd, my spiritual leader, my mentor, my friend, my younger cousin.
If you confess Me before men, I will confess you before My Father.
If you deny Me before men, I will deny you before My Father.
Hope is - The coming of things not seen.

Faith is - The belief of things hoped for, coming to pass.

Ephesians 5:15,16

Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise, making the most of your time.....

God was and is watching over me..

April 9, 1969 - Viet Nam - USMC - We had been in another fire fight, had taken some prisoners and were on our way back to camp, when bullets began whizzing past my head. I had just jumped into a ravine and only my head was showing. My A-gunner had started up the other side and the bullets were hitting the dirt all around him. I turned to fire back, and give Robert time to get back in the ravine. As I spun around, two bullets hit me. One in the mouth, following my left jaw bone, taking out 1 1/2 inches of jaw bone and 9 teeth. The other hit me in the right side of my neck. These rounds, should have taken my head off, but God was with me. I was eventualy sent back to the U.S. where I spent the next 6 months at Balboa Naval Hospital, San Diego, California. I am doing fine now, have been through many surgeries to repair my jaw bone and teeth. Just by looking at me, you could never tell I was ever shot. The VA has done an excellent job of putting me back together. New technologies over the years, have given me implants for teeth, and other than the fact my face is num, I am doing alright. Praise God.
